511 Home Page: This page shows the All Advisories page which is the Home Page except during the winter months when the Winter Driving page is the Home Page.
A scrolling banner appears across the top of the screen if road closures or blockages are on any routes. If an AMBER alert has been issued in Idaho, a scrolling banner will also appear across the top of the screen with limited information about the alert. From the AMBER alert banner, a link is provided to a screen with more detailed information about the AMBER alert.
Scroll down below the map or click "Text Only" to the right of the map for a list of detailed event descriptions. Text reports are listed by roadway number and are in geographical order within each route from south to north or from west to east depending on the overall direction of the selected route.
TABS: Select the KIND of information from the TABS above the MAP.
1. ALL ADVISORIES tab shows all incidents, including driving conditions, road work and closures. It does not include all commercial vehicle restrictions. (For this information, go to the Trucking tab.)
2. DRIVING CONDITIONS shows winter driving conditions. Highways are color-coded according to conditions: red indicates difficult driving; yellow indicates fair and green indicates good driving conditions.
3. ROAD WORK shows construction projections and maintenance roadwork for today, for the current month and for any of the next three months.
4. TRUCKING provides information for commercial vehicle operators, including height, weight and width restrictions and road closures and blockages for today, for the current month and for any of the next three months.
Icons are shown on the map of the Trucking page locating runaway truck ramps. When the runaway truck ramp icon is clicked on, information about the truck ramp is provided.
5. CAMERAS show views throughout Idaho. Some images are provided by other private or public agencies.
6. WEATHER provides forecasts from the National Weather Service.
7. MOUNTAIN PASSES provides a report for selected passes with information about the elevation and road grade along with the road report during the winter months. Some feature live camera images if a camera is at the location and/or road weather information if road weather sensors are at the location.
ZOOM in on a region: Click on a region of the state for a closer view. This zoom feature is available for the All Advisories, Driving Conditions, Road Work and Trucking pages.
Zoom regions are available for Boise, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho National Laboratory (INL), North, Central, Southwest, South Central and Southeast. A link to the Ada County Highway District's Traffic Management Center can be accessed through the Boise zoom view.
